Tips for Pregnancy and After

Pregnancy and After

If you are planning on having a child, you will find out that visits at the doctor’s office for regular check ups takes about 15 min, and you will be asked if you have any questions, and if not, it might be even shorter.

They are not focusing on education in the office, so it becomes your responsibility to educate yourself for your own knowledge and to know what important questions to ask your doctor at the right time.

Besides numerous classes at the local hospitals there are classes at local Birth Centers, Online Programs and educational Birth Summits.  More you explore, the more you’ll discover how much science and information is now available for the thing that is supposed to be just “Natural”.

Doctors specialize on the medical side of pregnancy and the recovery after, and different birth specialists are more focused on specific areas of pregnancy, birthing and recovery, and they might have more techniques, methods and research available to offer then doctors. It’s worth exploring possibilities but, of course, always follow your intuition on what you and your body need.

It is a really big topic, so here just some tips to what to look for when you prepare for birth, that you are probably not going to hear from the OBGYN doctor:

  1. Pelvic Floor Specialist who can also work with Abdominal Separation (Diastasis recti). After birth, sometimes , the tissue and the muscles and even bones may need help to come back to their original placement. And sometimes, Special exercises may be enough, but sometimes the specialist who can work deeper with tissue and bones is required.
  2. Placenta. Did you know that you could take your placenta with you after birth? In old traditions, you could make your own ritual and bury it under a tree. It believed that the tree would support the health of the child and becomes his sacred tree of power to what the child could come back when in need to at any time during his life.  Also, in Chinese medicine, they offer to incapsulate your placenta and you take it internally for birth recovering. Your choice.
  3. Scar therapy. If you get scars after birth, consider to learn how to do massage on them or find a specialist who will work on them. Scar tissue tend to pull healthy tissue and even organs toward them creating dis balance in the body. And if it’s a surgical scar, then it could cut energetic meridians of the body which is not a best for your health.
  4. Energy healing. There are so many available modalities that could benefit you and your body before and after birth. Some of them help with hormonal balancing, some physically, and some help to process emotions of the experience of pregnancy and birthing. I highly recommend to look for a healer that speaks to you personally.
  5. Orgasmic birth. Did you know that some women have orgasm during birthing?;) there is a book “Orgasmic birth” and some other women who teach and talk about that. Explore it and find out for yourself 🙂
  6. Herbs. There are herbs that are recommended during pregnancy and for recovery and for boosting milk production. Talk to a specialist, but, for example, raspberry leaf tea helps to reduce amount of bleeding after birth, and Milky Outs restores nervous system.
  7. Doula. If you never gave birth before, please do consider to hire a doula. They all can be trained in different systems and have different approaches, so talk to few of them before you find someone who will support you. They can be very knowledgeable about all the components of birthing and can educate you for decision making. Some of them offer after birth traditional rituals that could feel very special.

There is so much more to share! I will write more on that topic, but if you would like to look at my list of specific resources and people for birthing, please message me or set up a free 15 min consultation, and I’ll be happy to support you!
